A Murmuration of Starlings by Steve Burrows (Paperback)
Description
In the tenth Birder Murder Mystery, demons from the past await Jejeune down under ...
DCI Domenic Jejeune’s trip to see the vacationing DCS Shepherd in Australia may be to discuss his future, as he has told his partner, Lindy. But it is also about much more. Drawn into a case involving Lindy’s nemesis, Ray Hayes, Jejeune finds himself torn between upholding the law and protecting Lindy from harm.
Meanwhile, back in Norfolk, the murder of the CEO of a lithium battery manufacturer has set Sergeant Danny Maik on a collision course with Jejeune. Maik’s investigations into the company’s ties to an Australian mining operation mean that success for either detective can be achieved only at the expense of the other.
Set against a backdrop of Australia’s current environmental initiatives and echoes of its colonial past, these cases test loyalties and challenge long-held beliefs. No one doubts an aboriginal elder’s prophecy that the situation will ultimately end in death. The only question is, Will anyone be left standing afterward?
