**Matthew Pearl** is the _New York Times_ bestselling author of _The Dante Club, The Poe Shadow,_ _The Last Dickens, The Technologists, The Last Bookaneer,_ and _The Dante Chamber,_ and the editor of the Modern Library editions of Dante's _Inferno_ (translated by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) and Edgar Allan Poe's _The Murders in the Rue Morgue: The Dupin Tales_.
