### Author Biography

Harry Mathews was the only American member of the Oulipo, the Workshop for Potential Literature, France's longest, and most active, literary movement. He is the author of over a dozen books, including the novels _Cigarettes_, _The_ _Journalist_, and _Tlooth_.
