WILLIAM R. FORSTCHEN is the _New York Times_ bestselling author of _One Second After,_ _One Year After,_ and _The Final Day._ He holds a Ph.D. in history from Purdue University, with specializations in military history and the history of technology. Forstchen is currently a faculty fellow and professor of history at Montreat College, near Asheville, North Carolina.
